Dada Electric Aligns DAM1 MCCB Platform for Export Panel Builders

One thermal-magnetic platform from 12.5 A to 1600 A, a full set of field-installable accessories, and CB and CE documentation — built for the panel shops that ship cabinets, not catalogues.

SHANGHAI — Shanghai Dada Electric has consolidated its moulded case circuit breaker (MCCB) offer for export-oriented panel builders around a single platform: the DAM1 series. The range covers 12.5 A to 1600 A in 1P, 2P, 3P and 4P versions, for rated operating voltages up to 400/415 V AC, and is designed and tested to EN 60947-1 and EN 60947-2. The 125 A frame, DAM1N-125, is marked at 25 kA breaking capacity at 400 V with an Ics of 50 percent.

The move responds to a practical problem in the export panel business. Cabinet makers rarely buy one breaker — they buy a bill of materials that has to pass a customer's technical review, clear customs, and be repeatable on the next order. Every extra series in that BOM adds a datasheet, a spare part and a training session.

Why this matters now

Lead times for high-voltage switchgear and transformers have stretched to two to three years in Europe and North America, according to industry data cited by Reuters. Panel builders caught in that queue are looking for low-voltage suppliers they can qualify once and then rely on for repeat batches.

At the same time, China's low-voltage electrical exports reached USD 22.32 billion in 2025, up 7.2 percent year on year, with first-quarter 2025 exports of USD 5.6 billion, up 13.6 percent, according to customs statistics. Demand is not the constraint. Qualification and delivery consistency are.

"The question from a panel builder is never 'what is your cheapest breaker'. It is 'will the next container be the same breaker'."

One platform, 12.5 A to 1600 A

DAM1 uses thermal-magnetic protection: a bimetal element for overload, and a magnetic trip for short circuit. The platform shares one accessory system and one installation logic across frame sizes, so a panel builder can standardise on a single family instead of assembling four. Thermal-magnetic and adjustable versions are both available - fixed type, adjustable thermal-magnetic, and the 125 A adjustable frame.

1. Accessories install independently

Alarm contact, auxiliary contact, undervoltage release, shunt release, handle operating mechanism, motor operator, plug-in device and draw-out device are all added to the same base breaker - see the auxiliary contact and shunt release ranges. One body, several configurations: remote tripping, loss-of-voltage protection, status feedback and withdrawable maintenance without opening a new part number for every combination.

What a panel builder actually gains

2. Smaller envelope, easier retrofit

In our comparison, DAM1 dimensions and weight are 10 to 20 percent lower than comparable domestic models. Smaller breakers mean a smaller enclosure, less copper and lower freight. The 125 A and 160 A frames mount directly on DIN rail with a dedicated clip - useful for compact distribution boards and for replacing legacy breakers in existing cabinets. For dedicated rail-mounted projects, the DIN rail MCCB range covers a different frame family.

3. Documentation that survives customs and commissioning

Dada Electric operates an ISO 9001 quality system and holds CE, CB, KEMA and ASTA certification for its breaker ranges. Export packing, nameplate data and declaration documents are prepared per order. Certification is not a differentiator on a datasheet; it is the reason a container is allowed to leave.
